70 PERCENT OF STUDENTS ENROLLED BY CHINA’S TOP UNIVERSITIES ARE WILLING TO STUDY ABROAD

China Education News

In a survey among 40,000 Chinese high school students conducted from April to June 2010, more than 80 percent of students were willing to take the National Entrance Exam (Gaokao), but 70 percent of students say that they are still considering the opportunity to study abroad even if they are enrolled in a top university in China. Students report three main reasons why they intend to study abroad: they are disappointed in domestic education quality, they want to work and immigrate to a foreign country, and they were refused by attractive domestic universities.
The most popular countries are still U.S., Australia, Canada and U.K. Almost half of students still choose Business as their major.
