China third most popular destination for international students
China is now the third most popular destination for international students, following the US and UK, according to the Open Doors 2015 reportrecently released by the Institute of International Education (IIE).There were over 377,000 students from foreign countries studying in mainland China for the academic year 2014-2015.
The survey showed that China is the fifth most popular country chosen by US students for studying abroad, helped by Barack Obama’s 100,000 Strong Initiative and the Schwartzman Scholars program.The survey also found that the biggest component of international students studying in China come from South Korea and Japan, who chose China because they foresee higher future demand in trade and want to improve their Mandarin.
