Germany beckons Indian students

India Education News

A seminar on higher education organised by the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences in mid-October highlighted the opportunities awaiting Indian students in Germany.
“Even though the German government and other agencies offer numerous fellowships and scholarships to foreign students for higher education and research, Indian students are ignorant of the opportunities,” said Shilpa Pandeshwar, Information Officer, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Germany offers around 6,000 scholarships a year in over 400 universities for foreign students and it is the third most popular country for overseas education, a press release claimed. More than 1,700 programmes are on offer for foreign students in disciplines such as medicine, engineering, science, social science and business administration.
Ms. Pandeshwar explained the various programmes, application procedure, opportunities for part-time jobs, visa rules, etc., and answered questions from students. KUFOS Vice Chancellor B. Madhusoodana Kurup inaugurated the seminar.
