Indonesian Education and Culture Minister urges students to return to Indonesia after studies

Southeast Asia Education News

Both Indonesian Education and Culture Minister Anies Baswedan and Transport Minister Ignasius Jonan had urged 168 Indonesian diaspora attending the Overseas Indonesian Student Association Alliance (OISAA) Symposium (8/8) to return home and contribute to the country after finishing their study and training abroad.
The ministers took a candid approach in delivering their talking points on Indonesia’s preparedness in anticipation of ASEAN Economic Community that will take effect from 31 December 2015. “I am often surprised,” Baswedan said, “If I see Indonesians who are surprised to see [problems in] Indonesia. Why is everything so difficult, why is everything so bureaucratic? Where have you been? These are the facts in our country… Now we need people who can see this as an opportunity to change.”
