Kenya could step onto the global innovation platform if more resources are invested in the area, reveals the 2019 Global Innovation Index (GII), which shows that the country produced more outputs relative to levels of inputs and is way ahead of its peers on many fronts.

A poor standard of education, low investment in research and uneven adoption of innovative processes, products and solutions by businesses have held back innovation in the country for the past decade even as the it leads Africa in knowledge and technology, and creative outputs.
