Malaysian students’ interest in STEM drops to 20 per cent

The percentage of Malaysian students interested in STEM dropped to 20 per cent in 2014 from 44 per cent in 2011, said Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

He said the number showed a significant decline compared to the target set under the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (NSTIP), which aims to have 60 per cent of students involved in STEM by 2020. Malaysian Times
