New IIMs and IITs scrambling for suitable infrastructure
The Modi government had set out to make good on its campaign promise and allocated INR 500 crore (USD 80 million) from this year’s national budget to set up 5 IITs and 5 IIMs. Almost a year on, most of the promised institutions have yet to start functioning.
IIM Nagpur could start operations in July 2015 while IIT Goa may start operations from a temporary facility in a government college later this year.
