New Zealand’s international enrolment up 13% in 2014; growth continuing this year

New data from Education New Zealand provided the final word on a strong 2014 for the country’s international education sector. International student numbers reached 110,000 for the year, up 13% over 2013 and a sharp reversal from the enrolment declines of the prior two years. The 2014 result marked the highest international enrolment levels in New Zealand in more than a decade.
India and China accounted for the bulk of 2014’s enrolment growth. Enrolments from Indian students increased 67% year over year, accounting for more than 60% of New Zealand’s annual international student growth. Meanwhile, student numbers from China were up 12% over 2013and accounted for roughly a quarter of overall annual enrolment growth.
