What was your first job in education?

Teaching computer science at NIIT, India.

What does international education mean for you?

International Education is an opportunity for millions of students to undergo a truly global experience that has a life changing impact on their future. From the South Asian parents’ perspective, it is an investment in their child’s future that is worth making. To the destination countries, international students bring a unique outlook, fresh perspective, diverse culture, key skill set that helps in accelerating growth of a country enriching it economically, socially, and culturally. Every education provider must therefore embrace this unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the students journey to success.

What is one of the most satisfying outcomes you’ve helped a client to achieve?

I helped establish an e-marketing service vertical in India that catered to multiple clients across the globe and proved to be a valuable profit centre for the company with the staff increasing from a couple of people initially to more than 25+ people within it. Also being part of the students’ journey in my recruitment role has proved to be extremely fulfilling. It is great feeling to see the students that you helped, transform their lives and achieve success.

Why is it important for institutions to have a presence in Asia?

Asia is one of the most important areas for student recruitment. A physical presence in-country ensures that engagement and communication with key stake holders is not only seamless but is culturally appropriate. Any number of examples exist to support the view that in-market presence helps strengthens the institutions brand and opens up huge opportunities on multiple avenues of engagement which would not be possible with otherwise infrequent travel to the market.

What is your favourite movie?

I am a science fiction fan so Star Wars episode IV is my all-time favourite.

What is your dream travel destination? Why?

I always wanted to tour Europe specially the countryside that I believe is very beautiful, visit the castles and museums, and learn their history. I want to experience the roadside cafes and imbibe the ambience which is so unique to Europe.

What is your favourite food to eat with friends?

Samosa, kebabs and Sushi

What is something you’ve learned from somebody inspirational?

My father has been an inspiration for me. He was ‘self-made man’ in every sense of the term. He said that it’s great to have dreams, however it’s more important that you work hard on achieving those dreams.
