UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY BACK TO CHINESE MOE LIST
University of Calgary is back on China MOE’s list of accredited universities more than a year after being removed in the wake of the Dalai Lama’s September 2009 visit to the university to receive an honorary doctorate.
Doug Horner, former minister of Advanced Education and Calgary University President Elizabeth Cannon traveled to China in October 2010 and brought up the ‘delisting’ during a meeting with Chinese government officials. International students from China and Hong Kong feared they would not be able to find jobs back home with a degree from a university that wasn’t recognized by the Chinese government, and some left University of Calgary.
