VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN CHINA

China Education News

In China, vocational education has long been perceived by many as second-class. Students with better grades usually choose elite universities. According to statistics, in 2009, 96 percent of students from vocational training institutions ended up with a job. This exemplifies a growing awareness in China that students pursuing vocational education, who are learning specific job-related skills, may enjoy even stronger job prospcts than their university educated counterparts.
For example, Jude Tianhua Culinary School churns out tens of thousands of chefs every year serving in Beijing’s most renowned restaurants. The cooking courses range from learning to cook Chinese cuisine, western baking and making desserts.
