Grok’s High School Fairs – Spring 2020
Since the start of 2020, the spread of COVID-19 has caused huge disruption to international education across the globe. Grok has assembled tremendous resources to help institutions minimize the impact on their student recruitment and, by organizing our bi-annual high schools fairs, continue to help students explore their overseas study options.
Grok’s High School Fairs in Southeast Asia
The Grok Fairs in Southeast Asia were initially planned with 11 international high schools across Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. However, due to the COVID-19 spread, we had to cancel fairs in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.
We were grateful to be able to proceed in Myanmar, bringing six of our client institutions to five international schools from March 3 to March 5, meeting over 300 students. The fairs were very successful as students really liked the interaction with university representatives in such small-sized college fairs.
To make sure participants were comfortable, Grok offered hand sanitizers and masks for students and attendees throughout the fairs.
Grok’s Virtual Fairs in China
China was the first to be hit by COVID-19, and after the Spring Festival, Grok was prepared to convert our offline Spring high school fairs in China, to virtual fairs.
After one month’s preparation, Grok successfully hosted four virtual college fairs with over ten partner high schools in one weekend (March 14-15), with the support of university counselling software Concourse Global.
Each university representative gave a five-minute presentation to students and parents, followed by an interactive Q&A session using Zoom Webinar. Alongside the virtual fairs, Grok arranged over 80 one-on-one meetings between universities and students during and after the event.
We are touched to see photos shared by high school counselors of students attending our virtual fairs. Grok really appreciates the support of our partner high schools to make the fairs so successful, and look forward to hosting further events with them.

Join our future virtual fairs
We are not yet sure how long the disruption caused by COVID-19 will continue. Grok will keep supporting education institutions and high schools by connecting students with universities virtually.
