Describe yourself in three words.
Collaborative, authentic, insightful

What were you doing before working at Grok?
Before joining Grok I was Deputy Director of the International Office at Newcastle University in the UK, leading the international recruitment team.

What was your first job (in education or otherwise)?
My first job in education was working for an English language school helping students and businesses find the right courses to meet their needs.

What does international education mean for you?
International education has shaped my entire career, and I wouldn’t choose to work in any other field. I’ve seen firsthand how education can open doors and bring people together to contribute, no matter where they are from.

What is one of the most satisfying professional outcomes you’ve achieved?
Meeting students I’ve worked with as they arrive on campus for the first time, so pleased to be there and excited for their future at university.

What is your favorite book or movie?
There are a few but one that stands out is ‘Feet in the Clouds’ which, on the surface is about the Lake District in the UK and running in the hills, but on a deeper level explores what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.

What is your dream travel destination? Why?
I would love to travel to Canada and see the amazing landscape in real life.

What is your favorite food to eat with friends?
I love good pizza and pasta!

What was your favourite subject at high school or university?
Languages were always my favourite subjects at school — I studied French and German and went on to learn Italian at university. I’ve always been fascinated by language, and I still make a point of learning a few words wherever I travel (with mixed results, but I try).
