Editor’s note: According to a joint study by the MOE and the Ministry of Agriculture, China’s rural labor force is both shrinking and aging, and the number of junior and senior high school graduates who choose to study agriculture is declining sharply. Expanding the labor force equipped with advanced agricultural knowledge is critical to the development of the industry. With MOE’s advocacy in this area, Chinese vocational colleges specializing in agricultural domains may welcome international collaboration on agricultural technology and research programs to better “cultivate” professionals in this field.
