China’s demand for international schools ‘insatiable’
International schools from abroad are booming in China thanks to growing demand from parents who are seeking different pathways for children to attend college overseas and who can increasingly afford more options. Top prep schools from around the world are opening campuses in the country, often charging higher fees than their flagships and catering to students who want to go to university in the West. AP
KIM’S NOTE: From our observations in the market, a private high school requires brand and track record to attract higher quality students, and it requires higher quality students to build brand and track record. For that reason, it takes time for a new institution to establish itself. With an explosion in newly established private education options in China, we can also anticipate a host of governance and management strains.
