Chinese overseas students feel vexed about the low odds in winning the lottery draw for H-1B visa

China Education News

Only 85,000 H-1B visas (type of working permit) will be allocated for the 2015 fiscal year. However, applicants for H-1B visas reached 182,500, meaning the chances of winning the lottery draw is less than 50%. This is the lowest winning rate since US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has started to use the lottery method. Many Chinese overseas students feel unfair and express their concern over this issue. Finding a job is already uneasy, and now almost 100,000 H-1B applicants will be weeded out by the lottery.
