Education chief ready for student boom in Shanghai

China Education News

Shanghai will have enough schools to cope with the boom in student numbers caused by changes to family planning laws, a senior education official stated on April 13, 2014.
Over the next three to five years, there will likely be 75,000 to 150,000 more children in Shanghai, as Shanghai couples can now apply to have a second child if either of them is an only child. Building schools is part of the Shanghai Government’s long-term plan, and it’s said that about 30 to 40 new schools are planned to open every year.
