HRD Minister: India to introduce new education policy

India is going to experience a revolution in academics, as a new education policy is going to be introduced on the basis of academic merit and how curriculum should be taught, Human Resource Development Minister SmritiIrani has said.
Smritisaid that the University Grants Commission (UGC) is working on the basis of the National Education Policy, which was framed in 1986. The National Education Policy advocates the 10+2+3 system. Irani also added that a review of the SarvaSikshaAbhiyan (SSA) and the Right-To-Education (RTE) will be carried out.
In a bid to create uniformity among central universities, India’s Ministry of Human Resource has decided to frame guidelines for common admission, common curriculum, student and faculty mobility as well as a national system of credit transfers.
