India ranks its universities for the first time
The Indian government has released a 2016 ranking list for the country’s top universities. This is the first time India has created a ranking framework for higher education institutions and is in response to global rankings in which Indian institutions usually do not rank well.
The rankings include 3500 private and public institutions and are based on five criteria: teaching and learning resources; graduation outcomes; perception; outreach and inclusivity; and research productivity. The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) tops the list. Indian Express
