Marriott Institute of Hospitality Education makes debut in China

China Education News

Marriott International launched the ‘Marriott Institute of Hospitality Education’ in co-operation with Anhui Zhong-Ao Institute of Technology on April 26. This is the latest college partnership model Marriott International has embarked upon in China to develop the future generation of the hospitality workforce to support its growth in the country. The joint institute will be an integral part of the Anhui Zhong-Ao Institute of Technology and will enroll students from the annual China national examination for a three-year diploma programme. The expected number of 2013 intakes will be 300 students.

Editor’s note: College-enterprise cooperation has a tremendous advantage in attracting students compared with traditional academic joint programs. The close connection between the courses taught in class and industry experience can make graduates competitive in the job market. These partnerships also seem to promise greater opportunity of getting an internship in a local or international enterprise – which directly impacts post-graduation employment prospects. Currently there are many joint programs among colleges in China facing low enrollment and poor career prospects. Foreign education institutions, especially colleges and technical colleges, might consider involving corporate partners in their joint academic partnerships in China, as a strategy to improve employment outcomes and program quality.
