Plans to restructure University Grants Commission and free up India HE
The rigid and heavily criticized regulatory regime of the University Grants Commission, India’s higher education regulator, is set to undergo a major overhaul. The Prakash Javadekar-led ministry of human resource development has finalized the first roadmap to bring in a new system that is less prescriptive and encourages minimal regulation.
