Shanghai to test international high school curriculum

China Education News

The Shanghai Education Commission announced that it has chosen 21 local high schools to test an international curriculum. Eleven public and ten private schools will begin admissions in 2014 and provide an option of mixed China-foreign education for local students. The goal of such cooperation is not to copy overseas educational models, but to develop more creative educational concepts and methods. There are advantages to sending students to these schools: the tuition fee is a lot less than schools in foreign countries, parents will not need to worry about their child’s safety and ability to live independently, the international curriculum encourages motivation and creativity, and it offers a better transition from high school to university.
