Bill empowering 13 IIMs to confer MBA degrees to be introduced in parliament
Years after it was first proposed, the government is moving forward with legislation empowering the 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to award degrees to students instead of diplomas.
Unlike the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which are governed by their own Act of Parliament, the IIMs are run by registered societies and therefore award a postgraduate diploma at the conclusion of their two-year programs instead of an MBA.
