Chinese official urges modern vocational education
China’s deputy education minister urged the acceleration of building a modern vocational education system to ensure the supply of skilled professionals. China plans to offer a “world-class” modern vocational education system by 2020 as part of China’s plans to elevate its economic structure, improve the quality of the country’s labor force and increase employment. To strengthen vocational education, China will give vocational schools more independence and cultivate partnerships between schools and enterprises for joint recruitment and academic program delivery; encourage mixed ownership of schools and strengthen international cooperation between Chinese vocational schools and community colleges in foreign countries.
