Grok Counselor Connect, China – Fall 2022
On 15th and 16th October 2022, Grok held a Counselor Connect networking event in Xiamen and Fuzhou in the southern Chinese province of Fujian. The event brought together school counselors from nine local and international schools in Fujian with representatives from 15 Institutions in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia.
Highlights of the event involved the panel sessions in which participants discussed different topics regarding best practices surrounding university and high school engagements, and a number of thematic seminars provided by selected universities to provide updated information on topics related to the university admission procedure.
Taking part in the panel session was Uma Gao (Denison University), Jocelyn Wang (University of Alabama) and Lin Zeng (University of Connecticut). All three university representatives shared their knowledge with the participating guidance counselors, covering topics such as project-based learning programs, advice on how to prepare a strong personal statement, and how to make a strong impression at the interview stage.
During the event school counselors also have the opportunity to speak with the Grok university representatives, and discuss best practices in university guidance counseling, as well as exchanging experiences and expertise with each other on higher education advising.
