We have an immediate opportunity for an international education professional to join Grok’s new team in Ho Chi Minh City, helping an existing long-term Grok client, Queen’s University (Ontario, Canada), to promote itself across Southeast Asia.

Queen’s University is one of Canada’s leading universities and among its oldest degree-granting institutions. It offers a transformative student learning experience enriched by a research-intensive environment. Established in 1841, Queen’s is home to roughly 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all provinces and more than 100 countries around the world. Queen’s has a long history of engagement in Asia; it is now looking to enhance its presence in Vietnam and the wider region through the appointment of an in-country representative.

The Program Officer is dedicated to working with a specific international education institution, assisting the customer with both very high volume, complex recruitment management and a complex agenda of activities spanning recruitment, partnership, sophisticated profile building, and/or inbound programs, etc. This position involves frequent, sophisticated interaction with international customers. Significant travel required (40%).

Requirements

  • Two to three years’ experience in roles related to education or international education.
  • Experience representing a known institution will be a plus, with preference to Canada experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Queen’s degree an asset) with good to strong academic performance.
  • Spoken and written English fluency.
  • Proficient in business writing.
  • Able to discuss strategy and analysis with English speakers.
  • Experience working or studying abroad is required, with study abroad experience in Canada strongly preferred.
  • Voluntary or other life experience that demonstrates creativity, hard work persistence or drive to succeed.

Detailed responsibilities

As assigned by the Supervisor in conjunction with Queen’s, but may include:

  • Promote undergraduate programs to prospective students.
  • Develops detailed knowledge of Queen’s University, its undergraduate programs, admission requirements and application procedures/processes.
  • Supports and contributes to Queen’s ability to meet undergraduate enrolment targets.
  • Develops detailed knowledge about post-secondary education in Canada.
  • Keeps abreast with market developments
  • Ethically represents Queen’s in a way that reflects the mission and values of the institution.
  • Support the University in planning and organizing recruiting and outreach activities for prospective students, their parents and counselors.
  • Collect information from prospective partners and advise on partnership models
  • Assist Queen’s with the management of academic and other partnerships in Vietnam and other Southeast Asia markets
  • Liaise with applicants throughout the admission process to ensure they are well-informed, supported and encouraged to enrol.
  • Assists (potential) applicants and their families
  • Conducts presentations at high schools, colleges, fairs, conferences and other venues about the institution.
  • Assist with Queen’s messaging within the market (in the form of marketing communications, websites and social media) to a very high standard
  • Assists in the development of promotional materials for the Southeast Asian markets. Writes correspondence and other materials as required (e.g. newsletters).
  • Use social media channels effectively to bolster results of partnerships.
  • Have the capability to interact with and support faculty and other senior leadership at Queen’s.
  • Prepares a monthly report on activities using photos, specific accomplishments, highlighting opportunities and challenges.
  • With oversight from Supervisor, develop customer budget. Track expenses for the program office.
  • Keep abreast with market developments
  • Evaluate Queen’s programs, attributes and activities in Vietnam and the wider region, with recommendations for improvement that are sophisticated, realistic, well informed by market norms and that address Queen’s priorities.
  • Manage network of education agents to a very high level of complexity and performance by:
    • providing training to new agents
    • liaising with existing agents on a regular basis
    • attending agent fairs.
