Millennial international students rely on digital channels and university networks

Global Education News

A new report from World Education Services (WES) highlights the way in which international Millennials– international students between the ages of 17 and 36 – seek out information and make decision about where to study. The report is based on a survey of 4,852 US-bound international students, primarily from China and India, conducted over the six-month period from October 2013 to March 2014.The survey found that mobile devices play a significant role in the students’ “prospect-to-application journey” and that the university network (defined as the admissions officers, faculty, current students, and alumni) has the greatest influence on students’ decision-making process. It suggested that institutions need to leverage influential contacts across the university network and use social media to support users on desktops and mobile devices.
