New panel to revise higher education curriculum in India
The new Indian government is planning to constitute a ‘National Education Commission’ to revise higher education curriculum across the country, said Prof. Prakash, Chairman of India’s University Grants Commission (UGC). According to Prof. Prakash, the existing higher education system is based on recommendations from India’s last (and only) education commission in 1964. “The challenges and issues in education today are different from what they were in 1964. We are trying to get a new commission in place,” said Prof. Prakash.
