China Education News

The Desert Research Institute and the Nevada Center of Excellence, two Nevada-based environmental research institutions, signed a memorandum of understanding with Hohai University in Nanjing to share hydrology and water resource research and exchange academic personnel. The three institutionshope that the partnership signed in August 2014 will eventually help solve water pollution problems in China.
One focus of the collaboration will be on researching methods to manage algae bloomin the heavily polluted waters of Lake Taihu, China’s largest freshwater lake in the Yangtze River Delta.
“We plan to reach out to other colleges in China and the US because there are hundreds of lakes in the east and southern parts of China that have similar issues,”said DRI research professor KumudAcharya, who will be the new joint lab’s co-director.
