Southeast Asia Education News

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), in an effort to reform higher education, is considering shortening the time for basic bachelor’s degrees from 4 years to 3 years. The MOET’s plan on reforming the national education system has been open to public opinion.MOET said the adjustment would help Vietnam’s higher education system approach international standards.
The database provided by some schools showed that obtaining a bachelor’s degree after three years of study is within the reach of Vietnamese students. Commenting about the MOET’s plan, Le Truong Tung, president of FPT University, said that it would be a big challenge for schools to cut one year, or 20-25 percent, of the training time, while they still need to ensure training quality and qualifications of graduates.
